About The Gulf Region
There has been a sheer explosion of equity markets in the whole of the gulf region over the past 12 months. The markets have blossomed remarkably well against the backdrop of continuously rising oil prices and growing demand in the region’s real estate and financial markets.
The Gulf states comprise of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the UAE. Almost all these states are following a well structured and determined privatisation drive and it is clear that this growth is for keeps. Oil continues to be the key driver for growth. However, the regional governments have awoken to the need for diversification and creation of other sources of income. This has led to an increase in infrastructure spend and realisation of the importance of free enterprise. The shift in the focus is helping the economy, leading to more job and wealth creation.
Also, until a few years ago, oil wealth for the region found its way outside the region. Not any more. Inspired by government initiatives, excess liquidity has found its way to regional stock markets, the real estate sector and individual businesses. All these developments have led to enormous wealth creation.
The region as a whole is ideally situated to form a bridge for the western and eastern economies to interact and create opportunities, hitherto unknown, for the worlds of business, tourism, leisure and cultural exchange.
